One of the first questions every founder asks when evaluating a digital marketing agency is: how much is this going to cost?
And one of the most frustrating things about getting that answer is that most agencies in India are vague about pricing until the very last conversation.
This guide changes that.
We are going to break down exactly what digital marketing services cost in India in 2026, by service type, by agency size, and by what you should expect to get at each price point. No ranges so wide they are meaningless. No “it depends” without explanation.
Real numbers. Real context. So you can budget properly and evaluate agencies fairly.
Why Is Digital Marketing Pricing So Confusing in India?
Before we get into the numbers, it helps to understand why pricing varies so dramatically in the Indian market.
Three types of agencies operate in India at very different price points:
Freelancers and solo operators, individuals handling one or two services, usually social media or basic ads. Lowest cost, limited strategic depth.
Small to mid-size agencies (5 to 30 people) — full-service or specialist teams with defined processes, account managers, and creative teams. Mid-market pricing. This is where most serious businesses land.
Large agencies and networks — 50+ person teams, often with enterprise clients, higher overheads, and significantly higher fees. Premium pricing for premium budgets.
Most growing businesses in India, startups, D2C brands, SMEs, founders scaling from ₹1 crore to ₹10 crore revenue, are best served by a mid-size agency. That is the pricing tier this guide focuses on.
Social Media Management — What It Costs in India in 2026
Social media management is the most commonly purchased digital marketing service in India. Here is what the market looks like:
₹8,000 to ₹15,000/month Entry-level, usually a single freelancer or very small agency. Expect 8 to 12 posts per month, basic captions, and minimal strategy. Suitable for very early-stage businesses with minimal budget.
₹20,000 to ₹40,000/month Mid-market agency scope. Typically covers 15 to 20 posts per month across Instagram and Facebook, Reels, stories, community management, and a monthly content calendar. Strategy is included but may be light. This is the most common price point for growing businesses.
₹45,000 to ₹80,000/month Premium agency scope. Full content strategy, multiple platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest), 20+ posts per month, dedicated account manager, weekly check-ins, and detailed monthly reporting. This is the right range for serious brands who want results, not just content.
₹80,000+/month Large agency or integrated retainer territory. Usually includes multiple team members, influencer management, campaign production, and advanced analytics.
What Tomto Lemon charges: Our social media management retainers start at ₹45,000/month for a full multi-platform scope including strategy, content, community management, and reporting.
SEO Services — What It Costs in India in 2026
SEO is a long-term investment that compounds over time. The pricing reflects the complexity of the work involved, technical auditing, content creation, keyword research, link building, and ongoing optimisation.
₹5,000 to ₹15,000/month Basic SEO, usually just meta tag changes and keyword stuffing. Very limited value. Agencies in this range often promise Page 1 rankings in 30 days. Be very cautious.
₹15,000 to ₹35,000/month Mid-market SEO. Technical fixes, on-page optimisation, keyword strategy, Search Console monitoring, and 2 to 4 blog articles per month. Suitable for businesses starting their SEO journey seriously.
₹35,000 to ₹70,000/month Comprehensive SEO. Technical SEO, content strategy, link building, conversion optimisation, and detailed monthly reporting. For businesses who want SEO as a primary acquisition channel.
₹70,000+/month Enterprise SEO or highly competitive markets. Multi-location SEO, e-commerce SEO, international SEO.
Important note on SEO timelines: No honest agency will guarantee Page 1 rankings within a fixed period. SEO results typically begin showing meaningful movement at 3 to 6 months and compound significantly from 6 to 12 months onwards. Any agency promising rankings in 30 days is either using black-hat techniques that will hurt your site long-term or simply not telling you the truth.
Performance Marketing (Meta Ads + Google Ads) — What It Costs in India
Performance marketing pricing has two components: the agency management fee and the actual ad spend. These are always separate.
Agency Management Fee:
₹8,000 to ₹20,000/month Basic campaign setup and minimal ongoing optimisation. Often a percentage of ad spend model at 10 to 15%. Limited strategic input.
₹20,000 to ₹45,000/month Mid-market performance marketing management. Campaign strategy, audience research, creative direction, A/B testing, weekly optimisation, and monthly reporting. Covers Meta Ads or Google Ads or both.
₹45,000 to ₹80,000/month Full performance marketing suite, Meta Ads, Google Search, Google Shopping, YouTube Ads, remarketing, conversion rate optimisation, and detailed attribution reporting.
Ad Spend (Separate from Management Fee):
This is the money that goes directly to Meta or Google. It is completely separate from what you pay the agency.
Minimum recommended ad spend for meaningful results:
- Meta Ads: ₹15,000 to ₹30,000/month to start
- Google Ads: ₹20,000 to ₹40,000/month to start
Below these amounts, the data generated is too limited for meaningful optimisation.
Important: Always ensure your ad accounts are owned by you, not the agency. If you ever change agencies, you need access to your ad account history and audience data.
Full-Service Digital Marketing Retainer — What It Costs in India
A full-service retainer covers everything, social media, SEO, performance marketing, content, and strategy, under one monthly engagement.
₹30,000 to ₹50,000/month Light full-service. Usually one or two channels managed well, others managed minimally. Good for businesses who want a single point of contact but have limited budget.
₹50,000 to ₹90,000/month Solid full-service engagement. Social media management across multiple platforms, SEO, performance marketing management, blog content, and monthly strategy. This is the sweet spot for most serious growing businesses in India.
₹90,000 to ₹1,50,000/month Premium full-service. Large team, multiple specialists, comprehensive analytics, influencer management, and aggressive growth strategy. Appropriate for funded startups and established D2C brands scaling aggressively.
₹1,50,000+/month Enterprise full-service or integrated agency retainer.
Website Design and Development — One-Time Costs
If you need a website built or redesigned alongside your marketing engagement:
WordPress Website: ₹25,000 to ₹75,000 PHP Custom Website: ₹60,000 to ₹1,20,000 React JS / Next JS Premium Website: ₹1,20,000 to ₹2,50,000 Shopify Store: ₹30,000 to ₹80,000
These are one-time project costs, separate from any ongoing marketing retainer.
What Should You Actually Pay? A Simple Framework
Here is a practical way to think about your marketing budget:
If your monthly revenue is under ₹5 lakhs: Start with ₹20,000 to ₹35,000/month on one channel done well. Instagram management or SEO. Do not spread thin.
If your monthly revenue is ₹5 lakhs to ₹20 lakhs: Invest ₹40,000 to ₹60,000/month in a full-service retainer covering social media, SEO, and basic performance marketing. This is the range where integrated strategy starts paying off.
If your monthly revenue is ₹20 lakhs to ₹1 crore: Budget ₹75,000 to ₹1,50,000/month on marketing, a combination of agency retainer and ad spend. At this revenue level, marketing is not a cost. It is the engine.
If your monthly revenue is above ₹1 crore: You should be spending a minimum of 5 to 8% of revenue on marketing. That is ₹5 to ₹8 lakhs/month. This includes agency fees, ad spend, content production, and influencer partnerships.
Red Flags — Signs an Agency Is Overcharging or Underdelivering
They guarantee specific results, leads, ROAS, rankings. No ethical agency does this.
They lock you in for 12 months with no exit clause. A 3-month minimum is industry standard. 12 months with no exit is a trap.
The pricing is suspiciously low. ₹5,000/month for “full digital marketing” means either interns are working on your account or you are getting templated content with no strategy.
They own your ad accounts. Your accounts should always be in your name. Period.
They cannot explain what happens in Month 1. Vagueness at the proposal stage means vagueness in execution.
